About me
I am a free-lance UX and graphic designer; a design MA graduate and former Senior Designer in a city based agency; with several years of industry experience.
I have worked on visual and conceptual projects for a variety of clients; including corporations, small businesses and individuals; and across a range of platforms and media (print, video, cd roms, intranet and internet sites).
Most of my work has been in the area of UX and user interface design, with some opportunities to work on purely graphic concepts. I enjoy both but for different reasons. UX design presents the greatest challenge because it is all about establishing an effective dialogue with a user that enables them and leads them in a specific direction. This was something that I did purely instinctually at first but I’m now far more aware of methods and techniques.
Like every digital artisan, I’m engaged in a permanent learning curve: the struggle to keep up with new technology and new software. That is also often challenging – as well as rewarding. Ultimately, however, I see it as only a means to an end: the tools enabling a creative expression of form.
I am comfortable using many of the industry standard applications (i.e. the Adobe suite) and confident working on projects that involve a strong element of client liaison, bringing a concept from its initial stages to an effective visual and concrete form that fulfils its purpose.
I also have experience as a commercial copywriter and scriptwriter and teach courses in scriptwriting and media design. (For more on this: see links to my writing site in the side-bar)
